If you own a small business and you want it to grow, STOP doing everything yourself! Your Business will never grow if you do everything. This is even true in the Family Dynamic.
This is the Delegation Thread to your Web of Life. So… Delegate so you too, can grow.
In my case, it took quite some time to learn how to delegate. I have since learnt how to incorporate this Thread on to my Web of Life. In doing so I have grown in all areas.
We all want the home to run smoothly and grow happily together. Well, delegation is just as valid in a loving home environment as it is in your place of business.
Let’s say, you are the husband and father. You go to work and earn for the family. In this example, we will say the wife and mother works at home.
Remember that a wife and mother who stays at home for what ever reason… …with children and housework they work as many hours if not more, than a paying job.
So you cannot come home and expect everything to be done. Sometimes your dinner won’t be on the table. What?
I say this, because in my house, my wife hates cooking. On the other hand, I love cooking, so with pleasure I cook the family meals. I also mow the grass and do the odd jobs around the home that need attention.
My children are also delegated their chores. My eldest daughter looks after the dog. She does poop patrol, gets his dinner and gives him a bath when he needs it. My little one has to empty the dishwasher and clean her room. As she gets older she will receive more responsibilities. They are happy at the tasks given. This gives us, the parents, the comfort in knowing the jobs will be done well.
Let’s say, this time the Dad and the mum work full time. In this case, both parents need to have a strategy about what is delegated to whom. This includes the children, if any.
The point being, is that no matter what the situation, we need to let others help us grow, because it helps them to grow. Delegating responsibilities to your children gives them a place in the family dynamic. Make sure, when you delegate a job to any family member, they are confident in accomplishing the task. You can now see that we all have our jobs to do and we grow closer in doing so, with less stress or friction between Family members.
Imagine how much more you’d accomplish if you’d delegated. When you delegate, you are left with the priority things that keeps your business afloat. The non priority things or the things you are not so good at, are left to others. But remember to know the fundamentals so you are not wasting your money on time wasters.
We all have skills and some skills are better suited to us. In my business I am the voice and have the philosophical knowledge in teaching the Web of Life and my partner is good with all the technicalities in Web building and design as well as having truly great insight into life.
At first I was doing it all, until I realised I could accomplish a lot more if I delegated. Whatever your situation, you need to learn this Thread and apply it.
So you can grow your business. Get your employees to do things where you feel someone could be better at it. Once you have delegated to them what you desire, don’t hover over them, to see if they are doing it like you would. Give your employees tasks that suit their skill level. Not, something too hard or too easy. If you overwhelm them with a task you will burn them out and if you give them something way below their skill level they will get bored and uninspired. This will sabotage their creative genius.
Train your staff the way you want things done and trust them. Start a to-do list. This will clarify everything you want completed.
Prioritise the list and give your partners or employees enough to keep them busy but also fulfilled.
By prioritising you are making sure that everything is being achieved, not just the things that don’t take too long to do. Which then leaves the longer, harder tasks lagging behind.
Importantly make everything urgent. With a sense of urgency people tend to work with more diligence.
Most feel then, that they are part of a team. They are happy and fulfilled.
Most importantly your business Grows! When this happens your loyal partners and employees are rewarded.
People who prioritise and do the ABCs before XYZs will grow the most.
You will Accomplish more!

Interesting article… delegating is often an easy task in one’s home..
The work place is a tad bit tougher, many don’t like being delegated too and some places you find there are to many delegates.
But I agree once you learn to pass off some of the responsibilities life becomes a tad bit easier …
Thanks for sharing your article

Sound advice, Fernando. I know for myself it’s hard to give up the control and to trust others to do things as I would do them. Sometimes they may do things slightly differently, which is not wrong, but I have to relax and say to myself that it’s ok as long as we get the same good result.

It is not easy when you are used to doing things yourself, but you’re right as long as the result is good then delegating is not so bad
